Why does Electroverse still use Fahrenheit and not Celsius? Most of the world community uses the scientific Celsius and not the outdated Fahrenheit scale, and it would make sense to use the international notation . For readers outside the USA Fahrenheit seems rather outdated and not scientific.
Fahrenheit is more accurate because there are more increments between freezing and boiling. Just because “everybody” is doing something doesn’t make it the smart thing to do. In fact, it is often, if not usually, the exact opposite.
Cap usually posts the temperature & wind chill in both F and C values. This is actually quite helpful for understanding the user preceptions of both systems.
“It was blamed on global cooling and expanding polar ice.”
Just like we are seeing now since 2000. Antarctica is much colder now since 2000 by 3.6F. Greenland has cooled by .2F, USA has cooled by .5F since 2005. Australia, India and China and Russia have turned colder since 2000 as well. Overall the land areas have cooled by about 1 to 1.5 F since 2005, along with thickening Arctic ice since 2007. Record lows are outpacing record highs by at least 2 to 1 or greater in the last decade.
Did anyone forget the dust bowl days of the 1930’s? Back then the climate was warmer and we had severe drought in the Plains. We are nowhere near as hot in summer as we were back then. Not even close anymore. You might get a few records here and there, but allot of those originate from urban heat centers and thermometers placed way too close to asphalt, parking garages….etc. I do not buy anything they say in summer anymore. We didn’t have thermometers beside weather service buildings in a hot corner where the sun reflects the heat off the building in 1885, or right near airports where jet engines pass by every 15 minutes. For this reason, those record highs they report are false. I also heard that they used an observation taken right near a burning trashcan a few years ago, which biased the reading by some 18 degrees too high LOL. This is pathetic!!
June 2007 The UN IPCC & Al Gore received the Nobel Prize for their (political) position on climate change/warming. There was a small group of named Nobel Laureates whose specific category of input was not included. It was the impact of solar cycles on Earth’s climate change. The one I was acquainted with was terminated from his professorship at Colorado Univ-Boulder and got a professorship at a Univ. in New Zealand. The IPCC report is a totally political non-scientific piece whose objective is for world control purposes.
In regards to which temperature scale to use here in the USA, I recommend learning both. It is a good thing to learn Celsius, without mandating it. The USA leadership tried mandating the use of Celsius long ago and that failed spectacularly, just like DEI is currently.
Tonite Metcalfe County is to get down to 5F with 12-15 MPH wind. That will put us down to -10F windchill. So check the animals outside…bring in dogs and cats (?) and keep your fire going.
Deb you will get down near Zero so keep warm. And all those other Electroverse Friends in America…stay warm and stay Safe. Just think Deb…North Dakota will be -27F ambient…wind chills of MINUS 55!!!
So chill out y’all!
Got the electric heaters cranked up on high to counteract the cold, but I may have to fire up the propane heater too in the morning to take the chill off.
No doubt North Dakotans are accustomed to exremes of cold 🥶 and will take the severe weather in their stride. But I feel sorry for any Californians who have migrated there. (They’re everywhere, it seems.)
Our rollercoaster is heading back up on Wednesday
I just have to hunker down a couple days or so, and it will soon be a balmy 30-40F.
25F here tonight NW US then warming to 40F tomorrow daytime. Same tomorrow night then warmer the rest of the week. Ave low is 36F, record low this date 21F in ’09 solar minimum. No precip forecast rest of January or colder than now. Chilly but reasonable.
It’s worth looking at the high pressure area over the mid US tomorrow night on Windy. and the low pressure between NE Canada and Greenland gusting 100mph. That low pressure was over N Carolina this morning with heavy rain in Florida some areas got 4 inches. The low rolled up the East coast today bringing snow NE US, pulling cold air down from Canada.
I guess if it gets too chilly tonight, Mr
Weatherman, you could snuggle up to your barometer. If you were a little nicer, you might have some sort of warm-blooded animal to keep your feet warm, lol. 😄

This is near Chiang Mai, Thailand earlier this week
Loved the Scott Bessant quote. Dead on regarding there being an Energy Race (or coming War possibly). I had not seen that.
Have a great weekend.

This has been known for some time but they are still getting away with it.

If we all learn it, then they WILL mandate it. So phooey on it and them!
Metric and celsius definitely make doing calculations easier with in the scientific community. But i agree Deb, leave it alone.
What is sexier? Add a half cup of butter or add 113 grams of butter. Metric needs to stay in the laboratory 🧪
👍
It is incredibly interesting that the length of a pendulum that has a period of 2 seconds is one meter.
Serendipity.

Deb said: “I feel sorry for any Californians who have migrated there.” >> To N Dakota or other cold places.
I don’t feel sorry for them. They foul their nest, then move somewhere and too many of them continue their nest-fouling ways.
Well, the ones who have moved to Missouri are getting what they deserve for nest-fouling. And they will continue to get it every summer and winter.

Funny! At least it’s pretty colors. 😊
PS – Didn’t mean to “pressure” you, lol.😄
I don’t want any stinking animals in my house. Just another stupid rude idea. You’ve never said anything funny, ever.
You misanthropic old fart! What’s that saying, “Cold feet, cold heart”?
Or maybe, “Don’t hate me ’cause I’m lovable!”
😚
